Good morning from a -1 deg here in Ellon.

Driving to work was beautiful - the sun was just coming over the horizon, blood red with the red colour filtering out through the clouds (I know red sky in morning...) but it was truly beautiful. Then on a fence post backed by this red globe was a buzzard contemplating his breakfast. A lovely image.

Hope all ails and pains are getting better - I feel much improved since Monday - so everything passes indeed. Also trust the day is good to those who are on a path to recovery.

Good morning all.
2 degrees and has been frosty. Sky brightening ....
Work today beckons. Have to wrap up well as we have had a faulty automatic door awaiting a part for weeks. Can be very chilly....
Cas - spoke to sis on Monday morning when we chatted for 40 minutes. She is coping but I think her very long hair will be having a good cut as it's too difficult to cope with. She has beautiful long hair but wears it up all the time. It is a lot of work....
Better watch time. Hope those feeling poorly feel much better very soon.
A good day wished to all.....

Morning Cas, Marion, Pat, Sheila and all

ah well...west is not best, it would appear. Forecast yesterday had big sun for west today; walk planned....still chucking it down outside and decidedly dark grey. Only Argyll and Ayrshire, apparently. So, stove dismantle/clean on the agenda. Unshelled hazels have disappeared again. About to check camera to see if anyone has shown

Hope the day goes well for all

Had a barn owl roundup-
nobody home at Heligan
BOT Cornwall - couple getting ready for bed
Roy and Dale - Dale comfy on eggs and Dale on the stoop
Starr Ranch - just in time to see Mum bringing in food. Owlets appear ok but nothing further on them looking for another nest/s to foster out the young. They are topping up Mum's food at the moment.

Good Morning from a grey and slippy Hillfoots,
Have a wee dog desperate to go out but not quite ready to take her yet so she will have to be patient.
Had a bad evening last night, got groceries delivered and when trying to find space in Anne's tiny kitchen cupboards accidently knocked a jar off the worktopand it smashed on the floor spent ages cleaning it up and keeping a dog and cat out of the way. then had to get myself washed and changed as well as it had covered my trousers and shoes etc. Then when I went to bed I had to rise again in middle of night because i was really sick , made it to loo though thank goodness its a flat. Crying or Very sad Hope today is a bit better. Rolling Eyes
Must go get this dog out before she has an accident too. BBL

On way back from hospital yesterday we stopped off at the garden centre. They were selling off some cheap window feeders so got a couple just to see how they would do. Put mixed seed in one and crumbled up fat ball in other.
Just had my first visitor, a great tit Very Happy
Hopefully he will go tell his friends now.
Still want to get the kind Nan has. These ones only have one tray. Once I get that will move these two round to the back window.

Aw, Jean, trials.. you could have done with out all that. Better day today.
Such sunshine here!!!
Composing calls again. Cas has scared me talking of returning osps, my winter work is not done yet. Enjoying it however.
Nan, stay warm, it is working for me. Anne, too. I love woodmice. See a lot of them in the daytime in my garden.. and in the loft too.
Derek, I will get cracking very soon on the other job, I must. someone emails every other day with encouraging little comments..appreciated. Aw, just get on with it N.
Right, my fix over, mem stick and printer job now for proof reading and double checking facts in bed... Sunny It is really a most gorgeous morning, I will send some to those with dreicher outlooks. Some one once warned me there is nothing worse for depressed people than some one bouncing with joie de vivre
Re mem stick, my laptop does not speak to my printer but desktop does. Faff but better than no print facility.

Seems like ages since Leenie said she wanted to adopt them. Looking forward to seeing them going to their forever home. They just seem to adore each other. So sweet watching them together. Will miss them to but great to know they are going to a loving home.

Good morning. A fox, in very good condition, came and ate the peanuts this morning. Tess watched it from the fence and two others from the safety of the room.
Cas that's brilliant news about your friend's OH, well done to him. Good news of Ollie too - great
Mrs Esse hope you manage to get everything back into the cupboards. Then it's a matter of remembering where you put things Laughing
Anne hope all goes well with the 'stove man' today and that once done you have heat again. Great news that Scottie stayed so long AND a barn owl - wow.
Carol hope not too much damage in the airing cupboard and that the plumber can quickly remedy it.
Pat wonderful start to your day hope it continues in the same vein.
Jean animals always want to be 'helpful' in those situations. Hope you feel ok today.

It's going to be a sad/happy day for many chatters and of course Jacci and her volunteers.

Black bear update - hopefully we may get better views from the cams.

Cas, I thought you had a premonition last night re. Andy Murray. Very Happy Will be asking you for lottery numbers next. (Nuphar's don't work any more Sad )
Leenie will be so excited to pick up her new furry family. Jacci feels that as they were found in the same area a couple of days apart, Weasley and Dhana are brother and sister.
Ohh we have dark sky and sleet again now, glad we are back home.
Last night, in bed, I hear a cat purring in my ear. I put out an arm and feel a soaking wet Willow, eugh! so then she shakes herself, double eugh!! This morning the duvet has a nice muddy pawprint design Rolling Eyes (That will teach me to dye her ) ROFL
Sheila, will be a shame if your sister has to lose her long hair, but as they say. The difference between a bad and a good haircut is six weeks. Wink
Jean, I hope you feel better by now and Millie enjoyed her time outdoors.
Tricia, glad that all is well with Tess. Cat Scratch Sleep

Oh, Kath, muddy wet cat breathing down your ear, memories.

I stubbed my feet on an icy cold cat that must have nipped to the bottom of the bed, inside it, while I made a bathroom visit in the night, and got bitten as a warning not to even think of shifting him. 4 sets of claws and two rows of teeth clamped on tender feet. I think the kitchen range must have gone out.

Nan, our snooze time.

Kath, when our cat got strong, he meant it, you know when they bite and kick you with all four feet, hard? And when I moved my feet away, he came after them, flaming cross he was. Super pal, came county walks in the woods with us.

I'm no tennis fan but I get really annoyed when they start saying that Nadal Federer and the one who has just beaten Murray are "so consistent." Yes. So is Andy Murrray. It is consistently the four of them in the semis! Grr.Cathie C. Mad

Good afternoon all.

When I went out at 11.30 the sun was shining out of a blue sky and it felt really warm. A different story while I was waiting for the bus home just now, the sky is black, it's gone colder, and the sleet has started.

Don't think I'll have much to offer for the Big Garden Birdwatch this year, half a dozen starlings and a myriad of sparrows, maybe a robin if I spot him. I've not seen any blue, great, coal or long tail [CENSORED] as yet this year nor blackbirds or dunnocks, even the collared doves and wood pigeons have been absent. I saw one wood pigeon one day last week but none since.

Afternoon all
Late on today as we had to go down town this morning to buy a present for our nieces 2nd birthday. Have sorted out a bit more stuff but are washing all the pans crockery etc before putting it away. Now having a short break.
Another great caption, but not got round to thinking of one yet.
Pat Sounds a great drive to wok this morning with the sunrise and buzzard.
Anne Sorry to see you are still having miserable weather. Hope the stove man has arrived to fix it.
Jean Sorry to see you were ill in the night. Hope you are feeling better now.
Tricia Thanks for the bear update. Good to hear that all is well with Tess.
Margaret Thanks for the update that Leenie has landed. Must be getting very excited. Will be watching some of the time tonight but maybe not see them leaving if it is too late our time. Sad Hope somebody there videos it.
I noticed there is a lovely poem from Weasley and Dhana on the FFRC facebook page (the one we can all look at) from Rita Murphy 9 hours ago.
Noticed Kath has seen it as she marked it up as liked. Smile
Just seen Andy has lost. Sad Maybe we should have stayed down town longer as that is when he won his sets. Rolling Eyes
Now back to the sorting.

Just been looking at the voting for FFRC. I think Jacci is resigned to the fact that the Blind Cat Rescue will probably win the $5000 in this round which should leave the path clear for FFRC for the second round as no shelter can win two in a row. The same pattern could possibly be repeated for the third and fourth rounds. Having won a weekly prize of $1000 FFRC are not now eligible for the state prize of $1000 which will probably go to Angels for Animals even though they've only got 6.04% of the state vote compared to FFRC's 42.08%. I still can't understand how Cat House on Kings have dropped so far behind this year in the voting for the grand prize.

Just read the posts about cats & biting. When I first got to know OH in the early 1980's he had 2 cats, Butch and Blue. I was sitting in front of the fire stretched out with nothing on my feet - and - forgot that Butch was also ensconced at the fire. I moved my feet and must have 'touched' him and what a reaction. He clamped his teeth on to my big toe and had my foot in a death grip.

OH died laughing as I was in so much pain I couldn't speak but my eyes were the size of pot lids and my mouth wide open with a silent scream. What seemed like hours (in reality was seconds) Butch released his death grip and stared at me as though to say - "you wont do that again in a hurry, will you". No fear - but I knew who was top cat in that house. And I never forgot my place as long as he lived.

wonder if Cat on the Kings will have a big push in the next round? Last year they and blind cat each won a quarter before FFRC got a chance. Can't remember who else won one.

Pat - ouch indeed Exclamation

Afternoon all

a good news afternoon. Rain stopped half an hour ago and sun has now appeared. Too late for walk but delightful to see. We now have a working stove Very Happy Twas a blockage in the chimney that was causing all the problems. Stove went into "safe mode" ie cut thermostat and ensured smoke would pour out of the front of stove since chimney was blocked. Lovely Eric brought roof ladders and managed to remove the blockage. Also found the chimney pot was split in two Shocked and replaced with an old one we had hanging around (doesn't everyone?) Now feel safe lighting stove again.....tomorrow will be washing day (see, I can find my inner domestic goddess on occasion)

Hope Carol found as helpful a plumber and that Esses have a working (non-cooking) kitchen.

Looked at the overnight camera videos. Not a sausage...nor an unshelled hazelnut. A very clever phantom thief. Some nice videos of Scottie, though and some funnies where all you see are moving eyes Smile Will try to find a different position for the camera tonight

All have enjoyed the day?

Derek, the laptop is wireless and secondhand and I do just wonder if the printer is too much older, needs a new driver.. like a nice Fiesta is waiting for me somewhere, will recognise it next week.Thanks.

Evening.
Didn't get a lot more sorting out done, we ended delivering the birthday present we bought this morning as they are out tomorrow afternoon. They live about 50 odd miles away so it took the rest of the afternoon and early evening.
Been checking in on FFRC cam and have seen both Leenie and Val. Also noticed Gregg called in to see them.
Anne Great to see you've got your stove back in working order, and your chimney pot changed at the same time. Hope you soon solve the mystery of the disappearing hazelnuts.
Congratulations on reaching 4000 posts. I hadn't spotted it.
Now to think of a caption.

I am finding that too - sometimes it runs for ages - but then some days after about 10 minutes it freezes. I always have a wee check at the time lapse counter at the bottom right of the picture just o make sure I am watching a 'live' picture - and not a frozen frame.

Do you have a dishwasher ? If so you wash all that crockery and etc; in there while you sleep or go bubbleblowing... short cycle would do.

Carmac We didn't do the bubble blowing, that was Nan. Our niece is into princesses and the tinkerbell video, so we ended buying some dolls from the video.
We are pleased with the new kitchen but as its not very big we didn't have room for a dishwasher. There's only the two of us so normally not much washing up.
Thanks for the link to the birds especially as its the RSPB garden birdwatch this weekend.

Have voted and noticed further down the page there is a link to previous winners.
The winners of the first quarter last year was Villalobos Rescue Centre of Santa Clarita CA. They don't appear to have won anything since.
